Sean Alec Auld

Based in Byker and born in Northumberland, Sean Alec Auld’s artistic practice is deeply rooted in these locations, which hold profound significance in shaping his artistic expression. His work explores the essence of connectivity in a fragmented world through interweaving themes: stone sculpture, ecology, spirituality, traditional storytelling, ritual, mythology, archetypal symbolism and animism.

Through the creation of immersive spaces and evocative bodies of work, his aim is to inspire individuals to reclaim their innate ability for meaning-making, forging and rekindling connections with their own imagination, thoughts and emotions.

Guided by the unfaltering spirit of North East England and ecological consciousness, Auld’s work calls for a need to mend our relationship with the environment by exploring spirituality, ritual and mythology to unveil the depths of the human experience and invite shared journeys of self-discovery.

Rooted in animism and ‘more-than-human’ philosophy, his work echoes nature's intricate symphony, urging us to transcend limited viewpoints and embrace a broader sense of belonging and personhood through an engagement with the archetypal symbols of the collective unconscious; fostering connections beyond cultural confines.

In a tech-driven age that often detaches us from ourselves and the world, Auld’s practice calls for introspection and exploration. He hopes to create spaces and art that spark curiosity, inviting viewers to construct their own meanings. His aspiration is to empower individuals by kindling imagination and deepening their understanding of existence's tapestry of transformative stories.

He is currently based in Albion Row Studios
